Curating Innovation: Transforming R2 Factory Into a Creative Powerhouse Through Art

In 2021, I curated a transformative art collection for the London headquarters of R2 Factory, the artificial intelligence and digital innovation division of Rolls-Royce plc. Spanning six floors, this ambitious project brought together 64 dynamic works from a diverse range of contemporary artists. In collaboration with Art in Offices, I helped craft a vibrant, engaging workspace that seamlessly aligns with the bold vision of R2 Factory.

Challenges & Objectives

/ Project Overview

Tasked with cultivating a “safe space to do hard things,” I designed an environment that supports the company’s mission of fostering creative problem-solving and collaborative digital transformation. The space was thoughtfully tailored to R2 Factory’s unique team, brilliant, neurodivergent minds who self-identify as the “Punks, Geeks, and Superfreaks.”

/ Challenges

The selected artworks draw on retro-futuristic aesthetics, echoing the spirit of 1980s science fiction and classic arcade design. These visual cues offer both nostalgia and forward momentum, an energizing balance for a team working at the cutting edge of data science and artificial intelligence. Each piece was chosen not only for its visual impact but also for its potential to spark imagination, support neurodiverse working styles, and promote meaningful connection.

/ Objectives

As a curator, I specialize in creating environments that unlock the potential of people through art. This project exemplifies how thoughtful curation can shape identity, fuel innovation, and elevate everyday experience.

/ Final Outcome

The result is a workplace where innovation feels intuitive, collaboration comes naturally, and creativity is embedded in the culture, an office that doesn’t just house a team, but actively empowers it.
